[Also in Division F2] A nut 14 (see Division F2) with a tapered bore wall (24), Fig. 7 (not shown), and whiskers 16 at one end, is produced by rolling knurls (27) on one end of a blank, Fig. 5 (not shown), then boring, tapping and counterboring with a tool (31) to break through between the knurls so that the whiskers 16 are produced. A tool 32 is then inserted to spread the whiskers.
