Aqs. suspension of a microcrystalline substance is subjected to spray-drying under such conditions that round grains are obtd. which contain a small amount of water, so that the substance(s) dissolved in the concentrated liquid phase contained in the grain can crystallize. The grains may also contain agglomerates of microcrystalline crystalloids. Insoluble powders, dyestuffs, and other additives may be introduced before the spray-drying. This novel "spray-crystallisation" method leads to the formation of crystalline grains from dense concentrates containing crystalloids of pure or mixed substances, such as glucose, dextrose, etc.
