Luminescent materials for lamps, and - cathode ray tubes

Material consists of a solid base substance and emission centres consisting of a luminescent compound. The latter is introduced into the base substance under conditions enabling the compound to remain appreciably dissociated and uniformly dispersed. Specif. the compound consists of fluoride and an element from the group comprising transition metals and rare earth metals from group VI 4f, the compound being introduced into the base substance in the vapour phase. The fluoride is pref. YbF3, NdF3, ErF3, TmF3, HoF3, TbF3, PrF3, EuF3, EuF2 or DyF3.
