Glass fibre cloth or grid coated with resin and ceramic for metal fil - or catalyst support

Filter, grid or catalyst support comprises a cloth or grid of glass fibre bonded with organic resin and coated with a layer of ceramic cement or cermet, pref. prior to the complete hardening of the resin. The ceramic coating is applied by known methods e.g. flame spraying. The resin is pref. one which can withstand 250 degrees C continuously in service. The filter is esp. for use in continuous casting of Al and other metal, but may have a range of other uses.
