New antibiotic nikkomicina of Protective Properties of Plants Against phytopathogenic fungi, fungicidal compositions based on the same, and Process for producing the Antibiotic

The new antibiotic Nikkomycin is produced by culturing the strain Streptomyces tendae Ettlinger et al Tu 901 in a nutrient medium at a pH of about 5.5 to 8 under aerobic conditions and isolation by cation exchange from the culture filtrate, followed by elution. The antibiotic is believed to have the structural formula IMAGE +TR IMAGE and is characterized by fungicidal activity.
