Selective culture medium for Whitmore's bacillus - contg. l-threonine and trace metals

A medium for the selective culture of Whitmore's bacillus (Pseudomonas Pseudomallei) contains a pH 7 phosphate buffer, magnesium sulphate, iron versenate, L-threonine and traces of arsenic-free metals selected from B, Mn, Zn,Mo, Cu, Co and opt. Fe. The medium may be used in a diagnostic examination of samples and also in the prepn. of vaccines. It has high selectivity. The bacillus is esp. identified by culturing in the medium at 37 degrees C for 24-48 hrs.
