The tube-shaped packaging casing, especially an artificial sausage casing, is composed of fibre-reinforced cellulose in which at least the exterior of the fibre reinforcement is coated with a cellulose layer, and of a surface layer on the cellulose layer. The surface layer comprises a water-insoluble cationic resin and, in addition, plastic or cellulose particles or fibres, in particular plastic particles made of vinyl chloride homopolymers or vinyl chloride copolymers.
