In the axial- or radial-rotor blade array of the invention, especially for compressors of gas turbine engines, all the rotor blades of one or more rotor blade arrays are to be equipped at the blade tips or trailing edges with a single microstructurally homogeneous wear-resistant armoured layer and the intake coatings are to be made of a comparatively hard, erosion-resistant material, so that long-term operation is possible with minimum, constant blade tip gaps without significant blade tip wear or intake coating wear.
