The invention relates to an apparatus for at least partially closing the upper part of a trench formed in the ground (13), such as of pasture-land or farmland, comprising a frame (53) for coupling to a device for cutting trenches in the ground (13) and at least one pair of discs (54, 55) carried by the frame (53) and rotatable about their substantially horizontal shaft, a leading disc (54) and a trailing disc (55), which are located at such a distance on either side of the trench and the main plane of each of both discs standing perpendicular to the shaft (62, 63) stands at such an angle with respect to the working direction that when during operation of the apparatus the discs roll over the ground (13) each of both discs (54, 55) exerts on the upper part of the ground (13) a force directed transversely of the working direction and towards the other disc, which force closes the trench.
