PURPOSE:To easily retrieve an objective document from a document data base. CONSTITUTION:After changing a display configuration indicating the content of a candidate document according to the number of the candidate documents, parts including key words in text data are extracted as the element of a candidate document list, and displayed on a display screen (step S6). One of the elements of the displayed candidate document list is designated by an inputting device (step S7). The content of document data corresponding to the designated document is displayed on the display screen (step S10).
