PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main lane traffic flow predicting method for confluence system by which an automatic driving vehicle can be safely and smoothly controlled even with a structure which is similar to the confluence part of a conventional Japanese superhighway with a short acceleration lane concerning automatic driving of vehicle in a running support road system. SOLUTION: The running support road system includes a road side detecting equipment 107 and a vehicle detecting equipment 113 for detecting the situations on running roads 101 and 102, a road side controller 108, a road-vehicle communication equipment, a road-vehicle and vehicle-vehicle communication equipment on vehicle and a controller 112. In the system, the prediction is executed by considering that a driver recognizes the position and speed of another peripheral vehicle within the visual recognition range of the driver and changes the lane into the adjacent one as the method for predicting the positions and the speeds of the running vehicle in a confluence section from a present time till a time after a fixed time elapses, which is executed by the processor of road-vehicle communication, and, then, the predicting method in the road side controller is used.
