The report describes a computer simulation of a two-lane rural road to evaluate the traffic flow and the safety benefits of alternative remedial devices which would assist drivers in solving discriminatory and judgmental problems associated with passing maneuvers on two-lane rural roads. The model was programmed in Fortran IV language for use on a high-speed digital computer. The model simulates the movement of vehicle traffic on two-lane rural roads with various road geometries, traffic volumes, vehicle speeds and passing rules. (Author)
