PURPOSE: A shaft sealing device for a compressor is provided to prevent the flow of fluid around a second lip and into a case. CONSTITUTION: A high pressure in a crank chamber is supplied to a lip(37a) when a compressor operates. A seal surface(37b) of the lip is compressed by the surface(16a) of a driving shaft(16) so that the leakage of the fluid in the crank chamber is prevented. Herein, a spiral slit(37c) performs pumping with a relative rotating face(16a) of the driving shaft and the fluid between the lip and the driving shaft is returned effectively. The fluid leaked by the lip(35c) of a first lip ring(35) lubricates and refrigerates the lips(35c,37a) of a first and a second lip rings(35,37). Thereby the abrasion of the lips due to the friction and heat is controlled, and the life of the lip rings is lengthened.
