PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To isolate a new sulfur oxidation bacterium causing a corrosion by an acidic environment formation from an actual environment of an iron and steel material, concrete material, etc., having caused a corrosion and rich in hydrogen sulfide.;SOLUTION: 16S Ribosome RNA gene sequence of a bacterium separated from an actual corrosion environment of an iron and steel material in which a crude oil rich in hydrogen sulfide and seawater are present is confirmed to have a new specific base sequence and a sulfur oxidation bacterium (Thiomarinus navisia) is isolated and identified as a new species. The sulfur oxidation bacterium can be rapidly detected and identified from an actual corrosion environment by using the base sequence.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
