PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new nucleic acid and to provide a method for identifying or detecting a microorganism having the same nucleic acid and a method for purifying or monitoring soil contaminated with coal oil, petroleum oil or mineral oil, etc., by the same microorganism.;SOLUTION: The nucleic acid has (a) specific base sequence derived from a bacterium of the genus Burkhorderia or (b) base sequence hybridizing with all or a part of (a) the base sequence under stringent conditions and is included in a 16S ribosome RNA gene sequence of the bacterium of the genus Burkhorderia or a related bacterium of the genus Burkhorderia suitable for removing the oil. The method for removing the oil from the soil contaminated with the oil comprises using the bacterium of the genus Burkhorderia or the related bacterium of the genus Burkhorderia containing the nucleic acid.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
