PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating material for forming an insulating film, hardly causing separation of a solvent by a change with time, having good dispersion stability of inorganic fine particles, and providing the insulating film having excellent optical characteristics after firing, and to provide a plasma display panel having high brightness and a method for producing the panel.;SOLUTION: The coating material for forming the insulating film comprises a binder resin, a solvent and the inorganic fine particles. The acid value of the binder resin is 20-90, and the solvent is a basic organic solvent. Preferably, an acrylic copolymer is used as the binder resin. The plasma display panel having the high brightness is provided by forming the insulating film of a front plate dielectric layer or the like of PDP by using the coating material for the insulating film.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
