An advance control device (ACD) (13) adapts power adjustment in advance for a gas-generating unit (11) in relation to demands on load to be put on a fuel cell system (10). The ACD has a system for detecting a vehicle's position and driving quality, a data entry device operated by a driver, a system for detecting traffic flow density. An Independent claim is also included for a method for triggering a gas-generating unit for a fuel cell system in a vehicle.
