Operating motor vehicle cooling and heating system involves artificially increasing fuel consumption for increased heat output demand, reducing coolant throughput towards safe operating limit
The method involves artificially increasing the fuel consumption of the engine (20) for increased heat output demand, thus reducing coolant throughput through the engine towards the safe operating limit and causing temperature differences greater than 25 degrees C. between the heat exchanger inlet and outlet while simultaneously adjusting fuel combustion towards crankshaft positions with increased combustion chamber volumes. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a method of cold starting a diesel engine for an automobile; (b) a device for implementing an inventive method; (c) an exhaust gas feedback arrangement; (d) a charging air distribution arrangement; (e) an electric heater; and (f) a diesel engine for an automobile.
