Operating motor vehicle cooling, heating circuit involves raising coolant outlet temperature to more than 15 K above nominal thermostat opening temperature to minimize partial load fuel consumption
The method involves limiting the coolant throughput through a heating heat exchanger circuit (4a), ventilation circuit (9a) and/or other coolant paths carrying flow when the thermostat (6) is closed so that especially in one mode the coolant outlet temperature from the engine (1) is raised to more than 15 K above the nominal thermostat opening temperature to minimize fuel consumption under partial load. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a device for cooling and heating motor vehicles.
