The present invention relates to a novel Bacillus subtilis strain and a protease produced from the strain, and more specifically, a novel Bacillus subtilis strain isolated from the body fluid of Perillaru leucophryna . PL-1, a method for mass production of protease from said strain, and a protease produced from said strain. Protease produced from the Bacillus subtilis strain PL-1 of the present invention is stable to high concentrations of surfactants and oxidizing agents, and has keratin-degrading activity, so as to process clothing, organic foods, food, feed, natural leather and the like. It can be usefully used for waste treatment and for the decomposition of feathers, the main ingredient of which is keratin.
