PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate heating method which can efficiently form a vanadium dioxide-based thermochromic thin film and its functional product, and a manufacturing method of multifunctional automatic heat controlling glass which is used for windowpanes of buildings and movable bodies.;SOLUTION: In a manufacturing methods of a vanadium dioxide-based thin film and/or a functional product which comprises a vanadium dioxide-based thin film, the method comprises using a heat-resistive substrate applied with a transparent electrically conductive thin film where the transparent electrically conductive thin film is disposed on the heat-resistive substrate, and also performing the heating of the substrate by passing an electric current through the transparent electrically conductive thin film when forming the vanadium dioxide-based thin film. Thereby the substrate can be efficiently heated by making use of the transparent electrically conductive thin film that is introduced into the substrate structure and by passing an electric current therethrough. And a method for controlling optical characteristics of the heat controlling glass by utilizing the substrate structure that can pass an electric current is also provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
