A multi-port semiconductor memory device having a shared bank and a refresh method of the same are provided to prevent insufficient refresh of the shared bank, by increasing refresh frequency or shortening refresh interval at authority change time, by further performing refresh at every logic state transition time of an authority control signal generated in an authority control part. A memory core(205) comprises at least one shared bank. A first port(210) and a second port(220) receive data and commands outputted from corresponding external devices(30,40). An authority control part(230) controls to connect the shared bank to the corresponding external device through the first port or the second port selectively. The shared bank performs refresh operation on the basis of a first command outputted from the external device, and further performs the refresh operation at every authority transition change by the authority control part.
