The mold (10) has two axial units (16, 18) carrying molding surfaces (20, 22) of tire walls (24, 26). The axial units are moved between a tire wall molding position and a tire unmolding position. Molding units (40, 42) e.g. flexible steel needle, mold a channel in a tread (32) of a tire (14). The molding units are displaced between molding and unmolding positions. Displacement units (52, 54) axially displace the molding units between the molding and unmolding positions. The displacement unit has releasable connection units (74) placed between the molding unit (40) and the axial unit (16).
