The system produces specific technical conception in shortest time during minimum use of fire extinguishing agent in a storage system (A) for retrofitting the storage system with different constructional structures. A function unit has a distribution unit for fire extinguishing agent flow of partial regions (E). The flow is provided by including number and position of positive pressure openings. An inert gas distribution system is provided for permanent inertization of an inner area of the storage system. An air distribution system conditions room air of the inner area.
