Disclosed is a control device for combined motor vehicle safety systems, comprising an electronic control unit ECU, sensors that are connected thereto for acquiring driving condition variables, and actuators for actuating the safety systems. A common ASIC with a plurality of output stages is provided for triggering the actuators. Preferably, the ABS actuators are triggered in a pulse width-modulated manner, while the passenger protection actuators are activated during a pause/gap between the pulse width modulated (PWM) triggering signals for the ABS actuators. According to the predicted triggering time of the passenger protection actuators, for example the time course of the triggering signal for the ABS actuators is thus moved forward or delayed, and/or the pulse width for triggering the ABS is adjusted accordingly, and/or triggering of the ABS actuators is paused during the time the actuators for passenger protective functions are triggered.
