The device (2) has a light housing (11) with an opening (16) for rotatably accommodating a pointer (4) and/or a central shaft (8). Two light sources (14) e.g. laterally radiating LEDs (15), are arranged in the light housing. A ring light conductor (17) surrounds a rotation axis at the center, and is provided with a surface structure (22) diffracting light to the opening and homogeneously covering a side of the ring light conductor facing the opening. The light conductor is provided with two coupling arms (18) for introducing the light of the light sources into the ring light conductor.
