PURPOSE: Airbag control device and method are provided to enhance the safety of a passenger since even if a vehicle collides with a part far from a collision sensor, an airbag is deployed depending on the deformation of a vehicle body.;CONSTITUTION: An airbag control device comprises a collision sensor(20), a deformation sensor(30), and a control unit(40). The collision sensor is arranged on a vehicle body(10) and detects the collision of the vehicle body. The deformation sensor detects the deformation of the vehicle body. If first impulse obtained using a value detected from the collision sensor is beyond a first threshold, the control unit disregards the deformation of the vehicle body detected from the deformation sensor and deploys the airbag. If not, the control unit determines whether second impulse obtained using the deformation of the vehicle body detected from the deformation sensor is beyond a second threshold.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
