The light unit (1) has a light conductor (2) comprising a light entry surface for coupling light from a light source (3) and a light exit surface (A) for decoupling the light, where portion of the light conductor is flexibly or movably supported. Shape and/or size of the light emitting surface and/or an illuminated region are variable by the movement of the portion of the light conductor. The light source is covered and viewed from car-outer-side when the portion of the light conductor is moved to a first position (P1) and second position respectively.
