The light guide (11) has a total internal reflective-light guide body (12) with a light entry surface (13), a light exit surface (14) and a light coupling unit for coupling the light (S) from the light exit surface. The light coupling unit has a light deflector (21) for deflecting the light from the light exit surface at an angle which is smaller than a critical angle of the total reflection at the light exit surface. The light guide has an additional protective area (19) with a refraction index different to the total internal reflective-light guide body. An independent claim is included for a lighting device with a light source.
