摘要

With increasing implementation of longitudinal V-groove technique in wedge-type BLUs, the problem of gradually fading successive bright and dark fringes, appearing in the region adjacent to the incident end surface of a wedge-type LGP, has re-emerged into the spotlight of the BLU industry. In this paper, the optical simulations using ASAP modeling software are performed to investigate the effectiveness of configured incident end surface of a LGP on fringe smearing as well as on light extraction efficiency of a BLU. Simulation results indicate that the technique of configured incident end surface is a viable approach in terms of fringe smearing.
