The drawer has a rotatably-supported measuring unit (1) designed in such a manner that the measuring unit contacts a side surface (10) of an image recording unit (3) when the image recording unit is inserted into the drawer, where distance of the image recording unit towards the side surface is determined from angle position of the measuring unit for determining position of the recording unit in the drawer. The measuring unit has a sensing arm (4) i.e. pivotal lever, with an end, where the angle position of the measuring unit is determined by an angle measuring sensor (5). An independent claim is also included for a method for determining position of an image recording unit.
