A method for maintaining a pinion gear of a running gear in an electric rail car prepared by the present invention comprises a motor (110); a gear box (120) which is equipped with a large gear (130) and a pinion gear (140) for reducing the revolutions per minute of the motor (110); a coupling (150) which connects the motor (110) and the pinion gear (140); a pair of axle and wheel (160) which rotates by being integrated with the large gear (130); and a wheel (170) which rotates by being integrated with the pair of axle and wheel (160). For a running gear in an electric rail car, which is mounted on the gear box (120) to be rotated, by pressing in the pinion gear (140) by a first roller bearing (141) in the wheel (170) side and a second roller bearing (143) in the side of a ball bearing (142) and the motor (110), the maintenance method prepared by the present invention separates or assembles the pinion gear (140) not in the wheel (170) side but in the motor (110) side without separating the gear box (120) and the wheel (170).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2014
