FIELD: physics; control.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a monitoring device for monitoring vehicle systems, in which at least some of the systems have a self-monitoring mode and/or some systems have an external monitoring mode for monitoring other systems, wherein said external monitoring modes are not intended for the functions of their own systems or for self-monitoring. If a malfunction or error is detected in at least one function executed by a first system (ECPB) in self-monitoring mode of the first system (ECPB), a second system (EBS) is activated by the first system (ECPB) having the error or malfunction, or by a third system monitoring the first system (ECPB) in external monitoring mode in order to identify and/or limit the error or malfunction to the at least one function of the first system (ECPB) by means of actuators and/or sensors assigned to the second system (EBS) and/or in order to activate an emergency program of the second system (EBS) to replace the defective function of the first system.;EFFECT: creating an improved monitoring device, which provides better monitoring of malfunctions and more precise localisation thereof.;6 cl, 3 dwg
