The drive device (1) has a length variation unit (7) that is provided with a shaped memory alloy. A linear actuator (3) is provided with an actuator portion (6) having specific operating direction (15) which is set at a preset angle (12) to predetermined operating direction (14). A circular path unit (4) coupled with linear actuators and output unit (5) is rotated around a rotational axis. The output unit is connected with circular path unit, such that rotational movement of output unit is performed at circular path of circular path unit. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a drive device.
