Method for improving the straight running of a vehicle with a steering system which has a PDC system (1) and an active steering support (2), with the following steps: - acquisition of data on driving dynamics; - Provision of a torque value (T_alt) on the basis of a previously detected lateral acceleration (a_l) of the vehicle; - The PDC system (1) identifies a state of straight-ahead running from the recorded data on driving dynamics, at least one value of the recorded data on driving dynamics or a value derived from these data on driving dynamics below or above a threshold value for a predetermined period of time or predetermined route falls; - Measuring a torque applied to the steering system (T_bar) at least when the vehicle is running straight ahead; - Calculating a torque component (T_f) from the previously measured torque (T_bar) minus the provided torque value (T_alt); - Calculating a provisional compensation torque (T_pd) on the basis of the recorded data on driving dynamics and the previously calculated torque component (T_f) by the PDC system (1); - Calculating a final compensation torque (T_a) from the sum of the provisional compensation torque (T_pd) previously calculated by the PDC system (1) and the previously provided torque value (T_alt); - Activation of the active steering support (2) with the final compensation torque (T_a) to compensate for the previously measured torque (T_bar) applied to the steering system.
