PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ferromanganese phosphate positive electrode active material the surface of which is uniformly and efficiently covered with carbon, and which is capable of further improving the battery characteristics.SOLUTION: Provided is a lithium ferromanganese phosphate positive electrode active material, in which carbon is carried on a lithium ferromanganese phosphate compound represented by the following formula (A): LiFeMnMPO(in the formula, M represents Mg, Ca, Sr, Y, Zr, Mo, Ba, Pb, Bi, La, Ce, Nd or Gd, with a, b and c satisfying 0a0.5, 0.5b1, and 0≤c≤0.2, and satisfying 2a+2b+(valence of M)×c=2), and which is obtained by subjecting to a hydrothermal reaction a carbon source mixture including a lithium compound, a phosphate compound, an iron compound, a manganese compound, and polyvinylpyrrolidone or a carbon source mixture including polyvinylpyrrolidone and glucose.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
