PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide selecting device and method for a reference solar battery that can reduce evaluation error as compared with prior arts, and to provide a method of manufacturing a solar battery module that is evaluated with high precision by using a selected reference solar battery.SOLUTION: A light irradiation device for irradiating a solar battery with light is provided. The light irradiation device is capable of irradiating light under a reference irradiation condition, a first element irradiation condition, a second element irradiation condition, and a third element irradiation condition. In each solar battery, the product of the rate of short-circuit current under the first element irradiation condition, the rate of short-circuit current under the second element irradiation condition, and the rate of short-circuit current under the third element irradiation condition to short-circuit current under the reference irradiation condition is calculated. The average value of the products of the short-circuit current rates of plural solar batteries is compared with the product of the short-circuit current rates of each solar battery. A solar battery having the short-circuit rate product which is nearest to the average value is selected as a reference solar battery.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
