The present invention relates to a method for extracting a licorice extract having antibacterial properties. The extract of the present invention can be applied as a cosmetic raw ingredient which functions as a natural preservative alternative to a currently used synthetic preservative. According to the present invention, the method includes a step of extracting Korean licorice by means of 85% ethanol at 40C for 6-12 hours.
