There is provided a method of delivering a drug in a locally controlled manner to a patient ' s semen, prostate, appendix or vaginal tube for therapeutic purposes. In one embodiment, the method comprises transplanting a reabsorbable drug delivery device into the patient ' s seminal vesicle, prostate, appendix or vaginal canal. The drug delivery device may comprise an elastic device body for containing at least one drug reservoir for storing at least one drug. In a preferred embodiment, the method further comprises delivering the drug from the device in a manner that is directly controlled to the seminal vesicle, prostate, appendix, or quiver.
