The present disclosure relates to a method of preparing 1,3-butadiene and methylethylketone from 2,3-butanediol using adiabatic reactors. The method of the present disclosure comprises the steps of: a) providing a plurality of adiabatic reactors which include a catalyst layer for dehydration reaction of 2,3-butanediol, do not include a heat transfer medium, and are connected in series; b) introducing a stream including 2,3-butanediol in the temperature range of 200 to 400C into a first adiabatic reactor among the plurality of adiabatic reactors; c) dehydration reacting 2,3-butanediol to convert 2,3-butanediol into 1,3-butadiene and methylethylketone, and discharging a product stream including 1,3-butadiene and methylethylketone; d) heating the discharged product stream to the temperature of 200 to 400C; and e) introducing the heated product stream into a second adiabatic reactor, further dehydration reacting 2,3-butanediol to convert 2,3-butanediol into 1,3-butadiene and methylethylketone, and discharging a product stream including 1,3-butadiene and methylethylketone. The method according to an embodiment of the present disclosure can convert 2,3-butanediol into 1,3-butadiene and methylethylketone economically and efficiently using inexpensive adiabatic reactors which does not require the heat transfer medium.
