Systems and methods for analyzing the performance of a processing system are based on performance counters provided at tracking points on selected nodes of the processing system. A first transaction to be monitored is identified as a transaction to be monitored at a first tracking point if the transaction is detected by a performance counter more than a limit number of times at the first tracking point. A first tracking tag identifier is associated with the first transaction at the first tracking point. The first transaction is identified at one or more other tracking points based on the first tracking tag identifier. based on timestamps at which the first transaction is identified in tracking points, information such as tracking information, latency, location of a first transaction consumer device, etc. are obtained from the various tracking points
