Mushrooms consist of fruiting bodies (fruits) and mycelium (roots). (Refer to Figure 1. Structure of mushroom and name of each part) Mycelium contains about 4 times more physiologically active substances than fruiting bodies. Among a number of mushrooms, the mycelium of chaga, prickly pear, and shiitake mushrooms, which contain large amounts of 1 and 3 D beta-glucan, are inoculated into barley and cultured in a medium to isolate and purify only the indicator components. After culturing three types of mushroom complex mycelium, the functional substances of beta-glucan, which are separated and purified, are materialized.
