In 1994, as part of its ongoing occupational analysis of Federal jobs, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management conducted the Clerical/Technical Study (CTS). Incumbents in 77 clerical and technical occupations and their supervisors were surveyed using the Multipurpose Occupational Systems Analysis Inventory-Closed-Ended (MOSAIC) developed by the Personnel Research and Development Center. This system uses a survey-based approach to gather a wide variety of occupational and organizational information from job incumbents and supervisors. This approach produces technically sound data that support human resource management decisions, such as selection, career development, and performance appraisal. As a MOSAIC study, the CTS collected data for multiple purposes. This paper focuses on the organizational assessment (climate) portion of this MOSAIC study. It discusses (1) the psychometric analysis of two of the organizational assessment sections that was conducted to determine if the items were measuring the intended climate dimensions, and (2) the presentation of the survey results in the Human Resources Manager-an automated data delivery system.
