Comparison of the Amount of Pollutant Emissions from Different Transport Modes. A211 First Progress Report

The main objective of this project is to quantify and to compare the pollutant211u001eemissions caused by different transport modes. The several transport modes are 211u001ecompared with transport aircraft. Besides the main objectives there are three 211u001eother objectives. (1) The different transport modes have to comply with 211u001eregulations. These regulations are reviews; (2) The possibilities for the 211u001ereduction of pollutant emissions are discussed; and (3) A brief review of 211u001epossible future developments are given. The emphasis is on passenger transport. 211u001eThe transport modes that are reviewed are: regional and long distance transport 211u001eaircraft; passenger cars; buses; and classic and high-speed trains.
