National Support Project on Elder Rights and Legal Assistance

The Center for Social Gerontology's (TCSG) three-year project (9/30/95 -211u001e11/30/98) was designed to provide support to the system which administers and 211u001eprovides legal assistance to older persons and to enhance state leadership on key 211u001evulnerable elder rights initiatives. National level support included: publication 211u001eof the national newsletter, Best Practice Notes, addressing issues related to the 211u001edelivery of legal assistance services; planning and convening TCSG's Symposium 211u001e'97: Reinvigorating Legal Assistance for the Elderly; conducting the National 211u001eSurvey of Legal Assistance for the Elderly and writing and publishing its report; 211u001epublication of Adult Guardianship Mediation Manual; publication of journal 211u001earticles on legal issues important to older individuals, such as adult 211u001eguardianship, alternative dispute resolution, and tobacco and the elderly; 211u001epresentations at national and local trainings and conferences; technical 211u001eassistance to the Administration on Aging; ongoing assistance via phone, mail, 211u001eand the internet; and coordination with the overall system of national support in 211u001elaw and aging funded by the Administration on Aging.
