Computer-Aided Design of Linear Induction Motors With Edge Effects

The design of linear induction motors on a digital computer is studied. Design equations are given and an equivalent circuit is derived to aid the design. Using the design equations, a computer program is written to calculate the parameters in the equivalent circuit and to calculate the performance of the machine. To go with this basic computer program other programs are written. These programs contain the necessary logic and linear induction motor performance criteria. Using all the programs, a digital computer can design a linear induction motor satifying given criteria. Utilizing the complete program, three computer designs of linear induction motors are given.
