This document is the basic, top-level plan to conduct the Groundfish Surveys (designated Survey 2) which form a part of the MARMAP Program. This plan defines Survey 2 operations involving the collection, processing, and analysis of demersal fish, epibenthic invertebrates and infauna and related environmental data in order to satisfy the objectives. The objective of this Survey 2 plan is the standardization of groundfish survey procedures on a program-wide basis. Survey 2, which emphasizes the assessment of adult stocks of groundfish, has MARMAP counterparts that assess the other important biological communities.
