摘要

The object of this program was the development of a compact,efficient solenoid to drive a blood pump. Efforts made in this contract period have yielded solenoid actuators that are compact,simple,efficient and reliable. Electrical to mechanical conversion efficiencies of 60-70% have been realized by spring decoupling the loads and optimizing solenoid excitation. In vitro tests using simple mock loops have demonstrated total system efficiencies in excess of 30% over a wide operating range. The simplicity of this concept and operation at cardiac rates make the solenoid actuator an inherently reliable energy conversion system.
