Microbial Mutagenesis Testing of Substances; Compound Report: F76-026, Retinol palmitate

SRI International examined an FDA compound identified as F76-026. The compound was tested in the Ames Salmonella/microsome assay for induction of reverse mutation in Salmonella typhimurium strains TA1535, TA1537, TA1538, TA98, and TA100, and in Escherichia coli WP2 (uvrA). Each assay was performed in the presence and in the absence of a rat liver homogenate metabolic activation. Compound F76-026 did not appear to be mutagenic or toxic in any of the assays performed.
