Culture Media, Marker X Chromosomes, and X-Linked MR

The culturing and scoring techniques of Marker X frequencies in male mental retardates are investigated. Difficulty in demonstrating the fragile Xq in males with X-linked mental retardation and obligate carriers is a continuing problem. Detecting it in fibroblasts were unsuccessful in early attempts but recent success may make prenatal detection in an affected male a reality. The methionine effect is a significant new finding in this field.
